As for those attending the July 7 memorial, 8,750 fans from all over the world will join the service after 1.5 million of them entered a drawing to win a ticket for today’s event. The winners were informed on July 5.
To prevent scalping of the tickets, officials in charge of passing out the winnings gave each winner a wristband as they arrived at Dodger Stadium to claim their prize. The popular auction site, Ebay, helped out with the anti-scalping measures by announcing that they would remove any postings that offered Michael Jackson memorial tickets.

Another reason Obama is cooler than you: he had the Foo Fighters play in his backyard on the Fourth of July, and he’s heard their new song before you did. The band played for the President and his family, as well as 1,200 active military troops and their families. The song, called “Wheels,” is one of two new ones recorded for the Foo Fighter’s upcoming greatest hits collection, slated for a November release. There will be two less members panicking at the disco after guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist John Walker announced on their official website that they will be parting ways with the baroque pop band “to embark on a musical excursion of their own.”
But fear not, Panic at the Disco, who became popular after their 2005 release A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out sold over 2.2 million copies, will stay intact. Drummer Spencer Smith and lead singer Brendan Urie will remain as Panic at the Disco and a third album is still in the works.
Ross and Walker went on to explain their reasoning for leaving the band stating, “Though the four of us have made music together in the past, we've creatively evolved in different directions which has compromised what each of us want to personally achieve. Over the years, we have remained close and honest with each other, which helped us to realize that our goals were different and that parting ways is truly what is best for each of us. We are all excited for the future, you should be too.”

They used to be The Muslims, now they’re The Soft Pack; their latest release is called The Muslims, but they are four white guys. Still with me? Okay, good.
Both names are pretty dumb if you’re asking me, but it doesn’t really matter because the band plays a delightful garage punk infused with a bit of California surf rock that creates an accessible and enjoyable sound. I am not generally a punk fan, but this music is fun and smart.
Matt Lamkin’s vocals are not especially diverse in range and tone, but hey, it’s punk music. The boys also get points for their style, which I know has nothing to do with the music, but it’s just so cute that they dress like preppy nerds and play punk.
Check out “Bright Side” for a good summer song that is upbeat and enjoyable. I also like “Nightlife” with its shout-along “Heys” and “Ohs.”

Talk about a power trio. Three of rocks biggest names-- John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, David Grohl of the Foo Fighters and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age-- are currently recording in the studio together in Los Angeles, according to Antiquiet.com.
Rumors of this high magnitude collaboration have been circling since 2005, but Brody Dalle, Homme’s wife, has been lucky enough to hear what the trio has been working on. When asked about the project, Dalle explained, “I'm not at liberty to talk about it… but I think [the project] is pretty fucking amazing. Just beats and sounds like you've never heard before.”
Here’s to hoping this secret meeting of rock greats will leak some of their material to the public in the coming months.

Swedish-born indie pop musician, Jens Lekman has come down with a serious illness according to the singer’s blog. Leckman has managed to get the infamous SWINE FLU. He started feeling sick when he was touring in South America about a month ago and said the following in his blog,
"I picked home one last souvenir from South America, it's called the H1N1 virus. Wrongfully known as the Swineflue. I was crossing the Atlantic when things started getting really bad, the fever was hallucinogenic and shaking me like a leaf and I grabbed the sleeve of the Air France steward. 'I'm not feeling well, I should see a doctor' I said and the reply came as a brilliant mix of death anxiety and french rudeness: 'Uh, yes... Terminal D... go there maybe... when we land'. After that the stewards and stewardesses took long detours. A ring of empty seats formed around me. Peoples eyes were kind but determined, they read 'Poor you, I really wish you all the best but if you come near me or my kid I will have to stab you with this plastic fork'. I got up and went to the bathroom where I fainted.”
